"My initial intention with this project was
to be technical and informative about foreclosures. By no means am I
encouraging any reader to believe that they are above the law, nor am I
suggesting that the means to protect your property be dealt with in an
unlawful manner. At the time of my circumstances, the
Montgomery County Sheriff's office was taking on numerous foreclosures,
and the Dayton Daily News Friday edition was several pages long with that
day's auctions.
"All things changed in the course of writing
mid-stream, and I wanted instead to convey the mystique of what happened to
me.
"The bank rejected my payments, as my name
was not on the mortgage, only the deed. Everyone I knew, including a
judge, kept worrying and wondering what the hell I was going to do.
"They weren't alone. I, too, was
trembling about my future, not wanting to lose my home that I worked so
hard in maintaining and upgrading.
"Everyone's story is unique. As for
mine? Consider who this is, first of all.
"What happened was nothing short of a
miracle."
